Paul Zak, keynote speaker at the 51st Winter Institute. Zak is an expert in the emerging field of neuroeconomics.
A proponent of neuroeconomics and a business ethicist will deliver keynote addresses at the Jan. 30-31 Winter Institute.
In its 51st year, Winter Institute is St. Cloud State's signature summit for business leaders and academics. Community and campus leaders use the institute to generate ideas that foster growth and development in the St. Cloud area, Central Minnesota and beyond.
Jan. 30 events at St. Cloud State are free and open to the public. Participants must register for the Jan. 31 events at River's Edge Convention Center in downtown St. Cloud.
Through 3 p.m. Jan. 10, the conference fee is $30. Late registration fee is $40. Students are free, but must register.
Paul Zak, a Claremont Graduate University professor, will discuss neuroeconomics 3 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Cascade Room of Atwood Memorial Center (AMC). Neuroeconomics is an emerging field that examines human decision making, focusing in particular on how neuroscientific discoveries can inform economic models. Zak's address, which is free and open to the public, is titled “The Moral Molecule: Improving Economics.”

Bruce Weinstein, an author and consultant, will present “Ethical Intelligence: Five Principles for Untangling Your Toughest Problems in Business and Beyond” 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at River's Edge Convention Center in downtown St. Cloud. View Weinstein's bio page.
A Winter Institute favorite, the Economic Outlook Panel, returns 4:30 p.m. Jan. 31 with King Banaian, St. Cloud State economics professor; Steve Hine, director of labor market information, Department of Employment and Economic Development; and Tom Stinson, economist, State of Minnesota.
Parking is free on streets adjacent to campus and a dollar per hour in the 4th Avenue Parking Ramp.
