Herberger Business School (HBS) is hosting Waldman as part of the business school’s “emerging topics” speaker series that promotes the professional development and career success of students and alumni.
Waldman will meet with the school’s student leaders and staff at the Career Services Center.
Waldman’s presentation is relevant to anyone who has a job or is looking for one, said Mary Soroko, HBS student development director.
“In today’s connected market place, the first impression you are likely to make with a hiring manager will happen before you are introduced. Everyone has a public profile and on-line reputation,” Soroko said. “This program will help individuals determine if their on-line reputation is communicating their skills, motivation and personality in the best possible way.”
After being laid off from two jobs in six months, Waldman took his knowledge of social media coupled with proven job search strategies to help others find meaningful employment.
Since then, he has authored a book, spoken at numerous colleges and universities and trained job seekers and career professionals how to find work in a job economy revolutionized by social media. His advice also has been published on Mashable, Forbes and the International Business Times.
Sponsors include HBS, the Business Student Executive Council, HBS Co-Curricular Experiences Office, Career Services Center, Alumni Association and Student Government.
