St. Cloud State will mark Veterans Day and honor the women and men of the armed services with an open house 1-3:30 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Cascade Room of Atwood Memorial Center.

Featured speaker will be James R. “Doc” Tuorila, commander at VFW Post 428 in St. Cloud and adjunct professor at St. Cloud State. Those in attendance can write a greeting or a word of thanks on a banner for veterans.

The event is open to the public and is sponsored by St. Cloud State, the Student Veterans Organization, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.

St. Cloud State serves more than 525 enrolled military students and veterans. The University is a military-friendly school -- so named in 2013 by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine. St. Cloud State has been on the military-friendly schools list every year since 2009.

St. Cloud State offers financial incentives for veterans, such as scholarships for military, veterans and military dependents.
