Light Up The Night
Friday, September 28, 2012
Student leaders invite campus and community to the 8:30 p.m. Oct. 9 Light Up the Night walk for campus and neighborhood safety.
The walk comes on the heels of the assault on flooring worker Colton Gleason Sept. 20 west of campus. The 20-year-old Greenfield resident died later of his injuries at St. Cloud Hospital. A 17-year-old St. Cloud high school student is charged in connection with Gleason's death.
The walk will "show a sense of solidarity and unity" reads a flyer distributed on campus.
Student Government, which is hosting the walk, invites participants to bring candles and flashlights to Atwood Mall.
Student Government has established a safety committee that includes St. Cloud State and City of St. Cloud members. The committee will discuss student safety best practices and how best to communicate with students effectively.
Hannah Muerhoff, Student Government vice president, will chair the committee.
