St. Cloud State University’s Journey Community was nationally honored as Residential Community of the Month for July by the National Residence Hall Honorary.
The Residential Life program received the award for giving a group of 50 incoming students the opportunity to get an early start on their 2012-2013 college experience. The first-year students lived in Shoemaker Hall and took summer classes to help them transition into college life. Living and learning on campus, the students had an opportunity to build community while balancing schoolwork and extracurricular activities.
This is St. Cloud State’s 10th National OTM (Of The Month) Award. The University’s Residential Life office plans to repeat the Journey Community with a new set of students next summer.
The National Residence Hall Honorary is dedicated to recognizing leaders in university residence halls. Over 200 chapters are affiliated with NRHH. Chapter members represent the top 1 percent of student leaders on campuses worldwide, as demonstrated by their contributions to residence hall life.
