The mobile website as it appears on an Apple iPad

The mobile website as it appears on an Apple iPad.

St. Cloud State's mobile website has new tools, including real-time access to available computers in more than 25 campus computer labs.

"The lab seats tool has incredible utility for our students as they arrive on campus," said Loren Boone, assistant vice president for marketing and communications. "In a couple clicks they know where to go to get on a computer."

Simpler, faster and formatted for smaller screens, targets the more than 100,000 wireless mobile-device visits to recorded each month during the academic year.

Other new tools include access to the university's Microsoft Outlook email system and library tools such as article and book lookups.

The mobile website debuted in early 2011 with campus maps, news stories, events, Husky Athletics scores and Google-based search of the website.

Site developers are Instructional Technologies & Infrastructure Services staff members in the university's Miller Center.
