Gallery Vault moves

St. Cloud State University’s downtown art gallery has moved to a new location, 113 Fifth Ave. S, and has its grand opening this weekend.
“Dog-Fighting Tropes” is the name of the inaugural student art show at the new location.
The Gallery Vault opened downtown initially at 822 West St. Germain St. on Sept. 17, 2010.
Peter Happel Christian, the faculty adviser for the Gallery Vault, said students are very excited to have found a new space to highlight their work.
It was a months long process finding the right space at the right price and getting programming going in a physical space again,” Happel Christian said. “This space will help recalibrate what is possible for the students and the community.”
"Dog-Fighting Tropes" is the first show in the new space and the opening is tonight from 5 to 9 p.m.
The show is a wide range of artwork from the Art Department at St. Cloud State.
“The title for the show was chosen at random, in a wonderful reference to surrealism and chance, and allows Gallery Vault student organizers to openly interpret how they select and install the work in the show,” Happel Christian said. As the inaugural show in the new space, it should set a nice tone for what is to come in the space as the weather warms. There may be some kinks to work out after tonight, but we're all excited to see a good turn out from the public. It should be an engaging and thought-provoking exhibition.”
