Community garden produce

Fresh and canned vegetables harvested from the Community Garden.

The St. Cloud Community Garden is participating in Fall Harvest Celebration 2011 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 8 at Lake George.

Community gardeners and their families from St. Cloud, Sartell and Sauk Rapids will celebrate another successful year of community gardening.

The Community Garden is maintained by St. Cloud State employees, students and local community members.

Located on Fifth Avenue on the northwest edge of campus, the garden creates a unified network to envision, plan, plant, tend and harvest food and flowers together.

Community members are encouraged to participate Saturday and may bring their own favorite food to share.

They are also invited to bring vegetables from their community gardens to contribute to a vegetable sculpture.

There will be fun activities for children and a local chef will prepare a dish using produce from area gardens.

For more information, contact Tracy Ore, garden coordinator and professor of sociology, at 320-308-5570.

The event is co-sponsored by the City of St. Cloud.
