�Activism NOW: Young women in the forefront,� is part of the Women on Wednesday series at noon March 30 at the Atwood Theatre.
Erin Matson, action vice president of the National Organization for Women (NOW), will present “Activism NOW: Young women in the forefront,” a perspective on the roles and actions younger women are engaging in today. The presentation is part of the Women on Wednesday series at noon March 30 at the Atwood Theatre.
Matson took office at NOW before she was 30, making her one of the youngest national officers ever. She oversees the grassroots organizing efforts and national action campaigns for the organization, while also spearheading the use of new technologies within the feminist activist arena.
NOW is the largest organization of feminist activists in the United States. It has 500,000 contributing members and 550 chapters in all 50 states.
Matson has served as a senior interactive copywriter within multiple advertising agencies, specializing in online and viral strategy and outreach. She has also worked as a freelance writer, speechwriter and corporate marketing communications manager. Matson holds a bachelor’s degree in women’s studies from Georgetown University. Originally from Minnesota, she now resides in Washington, D.C.
The event is free and open to the public. The Women On Wednesday series is presented by the Women’s Center.
