St. Cloud State's premier game experience is tonight.
The men's hockey team will host the University of Minnesota Gophers 7:07 p.m. Jan. 22 at sold-out National Hockey Center.
Husky Productions will broadcast the game on Charter Channel 14. At the microphones will be Rob Hudson and, former Husky forward and graduate student, Mike Doyle, supported by on-site staff and a crew at the UTVS studios in Stewart Hall. KVSC 88.1 FM will broadcast live and post podcast analysis.
The 82nd meeting of these storied programs features two of the hottest teams in college hockey.
The 12th-ranked Huskies are 9-1-1 since Nov. 28. They were sixth in the PairWise ranking. The computer-based ranking mimics criteria used to pick the 16-team NCAA post-season tournament. The Huskies are 14-7-3 on the season.
The Gophers are riding a 7-1-1 streak, but lost their top scorer, Mike Hoeffel, to mononucleosis. Unranked Minnesota has a record of 12-10-2.
The teams meet again 5 p.m. Jan. 23 at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis as part of the annual Hockey Day Minnesota celebration. The Alumni Association is sponsoring gatherings at 23 Buffalo Wild Wings locations so that Husky fans can watch the television broadcast together. View the promotion flyer (PDF).
The Huskies are lead by senior captain Garrett Raboin, scoring forwards Garrett Roe and Ryan Lasch, and goalies Dan Dunn and Mike Lee. Visit the team web site.
