In August, St. Cloud State University’s new Twin Cities Graduate Center will begin offering professional-level graduate classes and programs in an professional setting at the Dex Building in Maple Grove.
“We’re making five flagship graduate programs available to a critical mass of potential students in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area,” said President Earl H. Potter III. “And, we have plans to expand our programming in the near future.”
An October grand opening is planned for the Twin Cities Graduate Center, which is on the first floor of a two-story building at 6401 Sycamore Court N., near the intersection of I-494 and Bass Lake Road.
Mostly evening and weekend classes will be offered for these degree programs:
Classes leading to degree programs will be offered in:
- Higher Education Administration, M.S.
- College Counseling and Student Development, M.S.
- Educational Administration and Leadership, licensure tracks for:
- Special Education Director
- Community Education Director
The MBA program has been offered in the Twin Cities since 2003. It outgrew the Maple Grove facility provided by St. Cloud State alumnus Russ Hagen, chairman and founder of Data Recognition Corporation.
A new MBA cohort begins in October. That group of about 25 students is one three cohorts in the program. The Herberger College of Business expects to expand the number of cohorts in coming months, based on the current waiting list, according to Dean Diana Lawson.
The Regulatory Affairs & Services program, which debuted in 2007, moves over from the North Hennepin Community College campus in Brooklyn Park, Minn.
Master of Engineering Management (MEM) is one of the programs that may soon be offered at the graduate center, said Potter.
MBA and MEM are among the St. Cloud State graduate programs that use the cohort instructional model, in which small groups of students proceed throughout the program as a group. The cohort model creates a rich environment of peer learning while emphasizing team-building and networking.
