Commencement speaker Saturday is Kyle Jordahl

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Graduating student Kyle D. Jordahl will give the commencement address at the St. Cloud State University fall commencement ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, in the Halenbeck Hall Gymnasium on campus.  Approximately 600 of the 1,000 students graduating this semester will participate as 4,000 guests look on.

Jordahl’s commencement address is about looking forward to what the future will bring.  He explains that he does not want his peers to be saddened about leaving college, but rather to feel excited about what is next.  Jordahl, whose hometown is Stillwater, Minn., will be awarded a bachelor of science degree in management with a minor in real estate. He recently started his own real estate business in St. Cloud and plans to work there after graduation.

During the ceremony St. Cloud State President Earl H. Potter III will confer the degrees. Brief remarks will be made on behalf of the Alumni Association by Amy J. Trombley, president of the St. Cloud State University Alumni Association.

John W. Palmer, Faculty Association president and professor of health, physical education, recreation and sport science, will be mace bearer. Faculty line leaders will be Professor of Accounting Kathleen K. Mooney and Finance, Insurance and Real Estate Professor Steven P. Mooney.

Marshals will be Assistant Professor of History Jason Eden, Professor of Art Kathryn Gainey, Associate Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Jean Hoff, Assistant Professor of History Mark Jaede, Associate Professor of Accounting Joel Strong and Professor of Teacher Development Lalita Subrahmanyan.  Announcer is Professor of Communication Studies R. Bruce Hyde.  Assistant Professor of Music Daniel O’Bryant will conduct the orchestra; Professor of Music J. Hugh Givens is song leader; and Heidi Buckentine will be the sign language interpreter.

St. Cloud State has one of three business colleges in Minnesota nationally accredited at the undergraduate and graduate level; is the 15th largest producer of new educators in the country; and has one of the strongest international programs in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
