Law Enforcement and Race: Organizing a Way Forward
Date: April 7, 2015
Time: 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM
Location: Stewart Hall Ritsche Auditorium
Description: Speakers.
In February FBI Director James Comey offered what he called a series of ‘hard truths’ about the future of Law Enforcement and Race. In March, the Department of Justice released what Attorney General Eric Holder referred to as a “scathing” indictment of the operations of the criminal justice system in Ferguson. Join several SCSU community members working within the field of public safety, policing, and criminal justice studies to listen to Comey’s comments and solicit comments from participants about issues of concern, with the goal of identifying future critical conversations within our own community and beyond.

Panel members:
• Wm. Blair Anderson, Chief, St. Cloud Police Department
• Kevin Whitlock Director, SCSU Public Safety
• Mitch Weinzetl, Retired Buffalo Chief of Police, Director of SCSU Public Safety Exec Leadership Program
• Roger Klaphake, Judge State of MN, Professor of Criminal Justice
• Mary Clifford, SCSU Chairperson and Professor of Criminal Justice
• Debra Leigh, SCSU Professor of Theatre and Film Studies
