St. Cloud State is among the best four-year colleges in the nation, according to a leading American business magazine.
According to Forbes, a New York-based bi-weekly, St. Cloud State is among the top 650 colleges in the United States, a group that includes the elite 25 percent of colleges that offer quality teaching, great career prospects, high graduation rates and low-levels of debt.
Based on Forbes' analysis, only 29 of America's top colleges have lower tuition than St. Cloud State.
The Forbes "America's Top Colleges" list includes just four Minnesota public colleges: University of Minnesota Morris (246th), University of Minnesota (258th), St. Cloud State (611th) and Minnesota State University Mankato (635th).
Missing from the list are five colleges in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system and four colleges in the University of Minnesota system.
The U.S. had 2,774 four-year colleges in 2009-10, according to the National Center for Education Statistics, an agency of the U.S. Department of Education.
