Trio to play Carnegie Hall

Three music faculty members will tread the boards next spring at New York City's venerable Carnegie Hall.

Trio Lorca, which features soprano vocalist Catherine Verrilli, percussionist Terry Vermillion and flautist Melissa Krause, performs March 16 in the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Recital Hall, the chamber music venue at the 120-year-old concert center.

Vermillion is a professor of percussion studies and chair of the Music Department. His doctorate is from the University of Northern Colorado.

Verrilli is an associate professor of voice and vocal pedagogy. She earned a doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Music. Visit her website.

Trio Lorca's repertoire ranges from the traditional to the avant garde and includes standard, contemporary and commissioned pieces. Performances often include solo, duo and trio presentations.

Just two blocks from Central Park in midtown Manhattan, Carnegie Hall is one of the world's great performance spaces. Musicians who've performed there include Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, W.C Handy, Judy Garland, Isaac Stern, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles and Yo-Yo Ma.

Trio Lorca will perform as part of Carnegie Hall's Distinguished Concerts Artists Series, at the invitation of Distinguished Concerts International New York.
