Orn Bodvarsson and Monica Devers are interim leaders of two campus entities that have emerged from the university's comprehensive academic reorganization.
Bodvarsson, a professor of economics and chair of the Department of Management, is interim dean of the School of Public Affairs.
Public Affairs includes these departments: Criminal Justice Studies, Economics and Political Science. It also includes the newly organized Department of Geography, Planning and Community Development.
Bodvarsson, who holds a doctorate from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada, begins work immediately.
Devers will be interim dean of the School of Health and Human Services. She is an associate professor and chair in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Health and Human Services includes the departments of Nursing Sciences, Social Work, Gerontology, and Communication Sciences and Disorders. The school also includes three new departments: Kinesiology, Health and Physical Education, Counseling and Community Psychology, and Medical Lab, Nuclear and Radiologic Technology.
Devers holds three master's degrees and a doctorate. She begins work July 15.
"They both bring a level of commitment and understanding of the University’s new organizational structure and the strategic direction embedded in that structure," said President Earl H. Potter III. "Their vision and sense of purpose regarding this new framework will offer the faculty and staff in these new schools the leadership and support they will need as together they develop and articulate a new academic and programmatic identity."
University officials expect to launch national searches for both positions this fall.
