Education dean finalists

Mary L. Snyder, candidate for the position of dean of the School of Education.

Five finalists have been named in the search for a dean of the School of Education.

Two women and three men will be interviewed on campus and will participate in open sessions with students, faculty, staff and community members.

The finalists are:

• Osman Lutturodt Alawiye, dean, Ella Cline Shear School of Education, State University of New York-Geneseo, Geneseo, N.Y. Alawiye holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University. View his curriculum vitae (PDF). View his campus schedule (PDF).

• Renee W. Campoy, interim dean, College of Education, Murray State University, Murray, Ky. Campoy earned her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. View her curriculum vitae (PDF). View her campus schedule (PDF).

• Withdrawn from the search process is Frank Hernandez, chair, Department of Continuing Studies, Partnerships & Strategic Initiatives, School of Education, Hamline University, St. Paul. Hernandez holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin.
  

• Glen Palm, interim dean, College of Education, St. Cloud State University. Palm earned a doctorate in the Social and Philosophic Foundations of Education at the University of Minnesota. View his curriculum viate and campus schedule (PDF).

The School of Education, formerly called the College of Education, is a grouping of six reorganized academic departments: Teacher Education, Educational Leadership and Administration, Child and Family Studies, Human Relations, Special Education and Information Media.

Palm has led the College of Education on an interim basis since 2009. Kate Steffens resigned in June of that year to become dean of the Riley College of Education and Leadership at Walden University, a Minneapolis-based, for-profit, online college.
