Thursday, March 24, 2011
Dave Anderson, founder of Famous Dave’s BBQ franchise, will share his secret recipe for success with the presentation “Entrepreneurship: The Famous Dave’s Story… How I took a Backyard Hobby and Turned it into a $500 Million Restaurant Empire” at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 at the Atwood Memorial Center Ballroom.
There are more than 170 Famous Dave’s of America franchises. Nation’s Restaurant News voted it the “Hottest Restaurant Concept in America” for originality, innovation in menu, décor, service and strong customer approval.
Anderson has been featured in two New York Times bestsellers and has served two Presidents and three governors in advisory positions. Ernst and Young recognized Anderson as Minnesota and the Dakota’s Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year, and he was named “Restaurateur of the Year” by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine.
Along with tasting success, Anderson has experienced adversity, frustration and bankruptcy. He was in the bottom-half of his high school class, but went on to earn a master’s in public administration from Harvard University at the John F. Kennedy School of Government.
The presentation is free and open to the public. Anderson will be available for book signing after the event. The talk is a part of the Emerging Topics Speaker series presented by the Herberger College of Business.
