Minnesota rap hero Sean "Slug" Daley is coming to St. Cloud State. The Feb. 24 Atmosphere concert in Atwood Ballroom sold out in less than six hours Jan. 14. Atmosphere is an independent hip hop act led by Daley, the MC, and Anthony "Ant" Davis, DJ and producer. Daley, who grew up in south Minneapolis, is known for intensely personal lyrics that document the struggles of everyday life. The group emerged from the 1990s Twin Cities underground music scene and has earned national acclaim on its own record label, Rhymesayers Entertainment. Atmosphere has performed internationally, including a recent European tour that included stops in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Denmark, Czech Republic and Iceland. The show begins at 6 p.m. with DJ Abilities. Other opening acts, Prof, Los Nativos and Mr. Gene Poole, begin at 7 p.m. Parking
The concert is the third leg of a five-stop Welcome to Minnesota Tour that features Rhymesayers stars and other Minnesota talent. Atmosphere's current release is 2010's 12-track "To All My Friends, Blood Makes the Blade Holy." A new album is expected in 2011. The group's first release was 1997's "Overcast!"
