Smoking policy debate

The Smoking Policy Review Task Force reviewing St. Cloud State’s current policy has created several opportunities for the campus community to offer feedback.

The task force of faculty, staff and students is engaged in campus-wide conversations about on-campus tobacco use and will make recommendations to the President’s Council in March.

Last spring the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board passed a resolution encouraging each of its institutions to consult with employees and students about tobacco use.

St. Cloud State also was awarded a Statewide Health Improvement Plan grant to provide resources for facilitating the process.

An opinion board that elicits feedback to questions is traveling about campus this month. View a schedule on the Smoking Policy Review Facebook page.

Other forums for feedback include:

• A traveling video talk box for recording feedback will be available at the Jan. 11 Inter-Faculty Organization (IFO) meeting and the Jan. 20 Side Street event
  
• Focus groups throughout January with participants recruited through bargaining units and student groups
• Campus conversations 9:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in the Husky Den and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 19 in the Atwood Lounge
