News Release Hot Husky hockeySunday, January 24, 2010
Garrett Roe's body language said it all. When the final horn sounded at Mariucci Arena Jan. 23, the junior forward from Vienna, Va., leaped over the boards and skated to the net with his stick waggling on the ice in an exaggerated sweeping motion. The Huskies' 4-1 win over the Minnesota Gophers Saturday night, coupled with the 4-3 win Jan. 22 at the National Hockey Center, was the team's fourth consecutive series sweep. The men's hockey team is 11-1-1 since Nov. 28, 16-7-3 overall and rated one of the nation's best in the PairWise rankings.
Leading the way for the Huskies was forward Jared Festler. The sophomore from Little Falls recorded three goals and an assist on the weekend. The winning goalie Saturday was Mike Lee, the Roseau freshman and gold-medal winner in the 2009 World Junior Championships. Dan Dunn, a junior netminder from Oshawa, Ontario, earned Friday's win. Frosh forward David Eddy, Woodbury, scored two goals. The Huskies travel to Colorado Springs Jan. 29-30 to play Colorado College, which trails the second-place Huskies by one point in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings. << Previous | Archive | Next >>
