News Release Athletic admission voteThursday, November 19, 2009
This time your vote will count. The St. Cloud State Student Government Association passed a referendum to seek the student body’s opinion regarding increasing athletic fees. In order to maintain free admission to athletic events, the referendum proposes to increase student athletic fees by 26 cents. The proposed increase is to offset the rise of ticket prices since the current student athletic fee was set in 1995. St. Cloud State students are encouraged to vote during the Fall 2009 elections Nov. 30-Dec. 2. The Student Government Association is an organization that promotes student interests by providing funding for student organizations, allocating fees collected by the University, formally addressing issues or concerns related to the student body and representing students on a state-wide level through the Minnesota State University Student Association (MSUSA). The Student Government Association also provides a variety of services for students such as legal assistance, grade dispute mediation and hosts numerous events.
