Astronomy Public Nights

A series of Astronomy Public Night events will be Nov. 2, 4 and 5 in the Robert H. Wick Science Building’s Planetarium. The events are free and open to all.

Astronomy Public Nights are a chance to learn about and observe objects in the night sky.

Together the St. Cloud State University Physics, Astronomy and Engineering Science Departments and the College of Science Engineering will host a series of Astronomy Public Night events Nov. 2, 4 and 5 in the Robert H. Wick Science Building’s Planetarium. The events are free and open to all.

Each show will present the constellations of the fall skies and the mythology associated with them. Telescopes will also be available for use if the skies are clear.

Objects that may be observable include:

• Jupiter
• The Andromeda Galaxy
• The Ring Nebula
• The Double Cluster in Perseus.

There will be two shows each night beginning at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The shows will last approximately one hour.

Reservations are required due to limited seating and can be made online, by e-mailing planetarium@stcloudstate.edu, or by calling 320-308-2011 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. 

Information required will be: contact person’s name and phone number or email address, date, time, topic of the show requested and the number of people in the group. Confirmation of reservations will be sent via phone or e-mail.
