“You Asked For It” teacher conference June 11
Wednesday, May 6, 2009
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Educators from throughout Central Minnesota are invited to further their professional development with a one-day conference at St. Cloud State University this summer. "You Asked For It! Responding to Your Professional Development Needs" will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in Atwood Memorial Center on campus.
The conference is sponsored by the Teacher Quality Enhancement Partnership Grant of St. Cloud State and area school districts.
There will be more than 20 breakout sessions offered during the conference, including two keynote presentations. The first will be from 2008’s National Teacher of the Year Michael Geisen, a science teacher from Oregon, who believes in unifying teaching and learning through creativity. The second will be a one-woman play by Brooke Haycock, an "actorvist," portraying multiple individuals in an educational setting.
Breakout sessions will focus on four components based on an online survey of more than 1,500 Minnesota teachers: practical technology applications to enhance classroom instruction; student health issues (mental and physical); differentiating instruction to motivate and engage students; and teacher wellness.
Registration is $25 by May 22 and $40 after that date. Registration fees include lunch. To register go to www.stcloudstate.edu/tqe/JuneConf/Registration/.
