Student Employees of the Year named

ST. CLOUD, MN - St. Cloud State University has named Patrick Brama, who has worked for four years in the Miller Library circulation department at the University, the 2009 Student Employee of the Year.
Brama, a junior community development major, is from Bethel, Minn. He was one of 17 St. Cloud State students, working on campus and in partnering community schools and agencies, nominated by supervisors for the award. Brama now goes on to state competition.
Runners-up for the title were the following:
1st – Tomi Kirckof, a senior elementary education major from Westport, Minn., who works in the Lindgren Child Care Center on campus.
2nd – Justin Maas, a junior mass communications major from New Hope, Minn., who works in the mass communications department on campus.
3rd – Quincy Nang, a junior bio-chemistry major from Libreville Estuaire, Gabon, Africa, who works for Public Safety on campus.
The St. Cloud State Student Employee of the Year, the runners-up and all nominees were recognized at an awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 8. Photos of the 17 nominees are on display in Atwood Memorial Center on campus.
Each student was nominated for his/her reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and uniqueness of contribution. To be eligible, students had to be employed through St. Cloud State, i.e., on the University payroll, which includes students placed through the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and students paid directly by St. Cloud State departments.
St. Cloud State students work on campus and within the community in such places as elementary schools, a women’s shelter, the St. Cloud Recreation Department, county correctional programs and Paramount Arts. During the last school year, one in every five St. Cloud State students worked in a University-funded position on or off campus, earning an average of $3,148 each.
The Student Employee of the Year Program is sponsored by St. Cloud State’s Career Services Center, the Student Employment Services Office and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
