Potter to deliver mid-year address
Tuesday, January 6, 2009
President Earl H. Potter III will discuss this fall's accomplishments, initiatives and changes in a mid-year address associated with the Jan. 6-9 Faculty Workshop Days (PDF).
Potter speaks 9 a.m. Jan. 9 in Ritsche Auditorium. Faculty and staff will join the president in describing how Strategic Action Plan objectives and presidential initiatives are being fulfilled.
Potter also will discuss the state’s economic challenges and address questions faculty and staff have asked about potential budget issues. The Legislature must balance the 2009-2011 budget by May 18. The deficit is estimated at $4.8 billion. Higher education funding represents about 9 percent of the state budget.
The president will host an informal reception following the address. He last presented state-of-the-university remarks Aug. 26 during Convocation 2008. View streaming video, video clips, audio excerpts and text from that address.
