ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Professor Richard Lawrence, criminal justice, will be the speaker at the St. Cloud State University Graduate School Commencement and Hooding Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in Ritsche Auditorium, Stewart Hall, on campus.
Lawrence earned his bachelor’s degree at Bethel College in St. Paul, Minn., his master’s at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, and his doctorate at the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas. He has been a professor at St. Cloud State since 1988.
Approximately 80 of the 160 students earning their graduate degrees this semester will participate in the ceremony. Prior to the hooding ceremony, dessert and beverages will be served for graduates, faculty members and the guests attending. Minnesota State Colleges and Universities board trustee Ruth Grendahl will provide the graduation welcome. The dean of each college will announce the graduates and St. Cloud State President Earl H. Potter III will confer the degrees.
St. Cloud State has one of only three business colleges in Minnesota nationally accredited at the undergraduate and graduate level, and is the 15th largest producer of new educators in the country. The university, which offers 50 master’s degrees, has the only accredited mass communications and criminal justice graduate programs in the state of Minnesota.
