Connect at TECH DAY

TECH DAY '09 will feature technology-focused exploring, sharing, teaching and learning.

Faculty and staff will collaborate Jan. 8 in a day of technology-focused exploring, sharing, teaching and learning.

TECH DAY '09 is hosted by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) in partnership with President Earl H. Potter III, Provost Michael Spitzer, the Center for Continuing Studies, the Center for Information Systems and Learning Resources & Technology Services.

The activities will be held in Atwood Ballroom and four other Atwood Memorial Center rooms.

Participants will explore the fundamental question: What is the role of technology in teaching and learning at St. Cloud State University? Interactive sessions, demonstrations, a keynote address, focus groups and roundtables will help participants wrestle with that question.

Delivering the keynote address is Chuck Dziuban, director of the Research Initiative for Teaching Effectiveness at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. His address is titled "The Net Generation, Learning Styles and Technology-Enhanced Education: Opportunities and Challenges."

Dziuban’s research has been published in Multivariate Behavioral Research, the Psychological Bulletin, Educational and Psychological Measurement, the American Education Research Journal and the Phi Delta Kappan.

Dziuban, who holds a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin, has received funding from several government and industrial organizations including the Ford Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control.

TECH DAY is part of the Jan. 6-9  Faculty Workshop Days.

TECH DAY '09 is open to faculty and staff. The event does not include vendors.
