Sea Kayaking: Explore the Ten Thousand Islands

Outdoor Endeavors is returning to southwest Florida for a sea kayaking adventure Jan. 3-10, 2009.
An information meeting for the Ten Thousand Islands Sea Kayaking Trip is 7 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Outdoor Endeavors offices in the Student Recreation Center.
St. Cloud State's reknowned outdoor education program lead a trip to the mangrove swamps near Chokoloskee, Fla., in 2008. View a photo slide show from the trip.
The trip cost is $425 plus air fare. Registration is due Dec. 9, 2008. Kayak training will be provided.
The 35,000-acre Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge is one of the world's largest estuary ecosystems. It is home to 8,000 acres of mangrove forest, 16,000 acres of marine water and 11,000 acres of freshwater marshland. Visitors can see alligators, wading birds, shorebirds, bald eagles, osprey, loggerhead sea turtles, dolphins and manatees.
