Suicide prevention training
Wednesday, March 6, 2013
You can be a friend, indeed, to a friend in need with suicide prevention training from St. Cloud State.
Promoting a Caring Community (PACC) offers a 30-minute online suicide prevention course called "At-Risk For Students: Helping a Friend in Distress."
The course teaches participants to recognize signs of distress and connect fellow students to support services.
Participants engage in simulated conversations with student avatars who are fully animated and emotionally responsive, making this interactive environment a highly realistic role-play game experience, according to Charlotte Heinz, PACC graduate assistant for suicide prevention.
Visit kognitocampus.com/student to take the course. Use enrollment key: stcloud42. Follow on-screen instructions.
Participants who complete the training can redeem a course certificate for a $5 Subway gift card in Atwood Memorial Center 217.
PACC is grant-funded by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Follow PACC at twitter.com/SCSUPACC.
