SCSU ties to biz awards

Businesses with St. Cloud State ties are among those honored at the 2012 Minnesota Family Business Awards.

Recipients that balanced financial success with community service were recognized Nov. 8 at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis.

Honored in the innovation category was Anderson Trucking Service, Inc., St. Cloud. Founder Harold Anderson helped St. Cloud State establish the Anderson Center for Management and Leadership Development. The Anderson Center’s executive forums impart business values coupled with expertise in emerging technologies. A national trucking service launched in 1955, Anderson Trucking has 1,350 employees. • Jim Anderson '75, principal owner, earned a bachelor’s in music
• Scott Anderson '97 '03, principal owner and vice president of safety and risk management, holds a bachelor's in finance and a master of business administration
• Barbara (Nelson) Anderson '75 '92, wife of principal owner and CEO Rollie Anderson, earned a bachelor's in elementary education and a master’s in child and family studies

Others honored include:

• Daniel Gooch '10, retail sales manager, holds a bachelor’s in elective studies. His family's company, Catallia Mexican Foods, Eagan, was honored in the diversity category. View a video.
• Frank R. Marvin, who attended St. Cloud State, is vice chair of Marvin Lumber, Warroad, Minn. Marvin Windows and Doors was honored in the community category. View a video.

Minnesota Family Business Awards are presented by Twin Cities Business magazine and Hubler for Business Families, a Minneapolis-based consulting firm.
