Behind "Husky and I Know It"

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

The parody music video "Husky and I Know It" is the work of many St. Cloud State people.

The student-staff collaboration, which parodies LMFAO's #1 hit "Sexy and I Know It," was produced by Derrick Silvestri '06 and Jim Gray '05. Silvestri is the University's television studio manager. Gray is director of operations at KVSC 88.1 FM, the campus radio station.

A key organizer of the Aug. 13 video shoot was Big Lake senior Julia Allen, marketing director for UTVS, the campus television station.

Lyrics were voiced by students Nick Hendrickson, Buffalo Lake, and Derek Ehlert, Sartell. Hendrickson also assisted with audio production.

The video concept was sparked last spring by Zac Norton, Ogilvie, and Tyla Hughes, Monticello.

The 3:18 video debuted at the Aug. 25 new student orientation gathering at the National Hockey & Event Center. Available at http://youtube.com/stcloudstatehusky, the video is posted with the caption:

"This is how Blizzard rolls, Red and Black, tail outta control. He's chillin' in the Dog Pound that's fo' sho! We are full of Husky Pride and ain't afraid to show it, show it, show it. I'm a Husky and I Know It!"
