News Release Welcome students campaignMonday, August 27, 2012
Billboards, banners, window clings, table tents and more are welcoming some 30,000 college students -- including about 17,000 St. Cloud State students -- to the St. Cloud area. St. Cloud State, College of Saint Benedict, Rasmussen College, Saint John's University, St. Cloud Community & Technical College and Minnesota School of Business have teamed to welcome students with:
Every major roadway into the St. Cloud area has a "Welcome College Students" billboard. New to the five-year-old campaign are 32 street-light banners between Eighth and 14th avenues on Minnesota Highway 23 in St. Cloud. "The banners are a very visible element on a busy state highway," said Loren Boone, St. Cloud State's assistant vice president of marketing and communications. "They shout out to motorists that the St. Cloud area is deeply committed to higher education." St. Cloud State, City of St. Cloud and the partner colleges plan next fall to extend the banners west to Washington Memorial Drive, Boone said. The community guide, published by Times Media, is filled with facts and photos about the colleges, as well as advertisements and coupons from area businesses. St. Cloud State has an additional element in the campaign, a postcard mailed to neighborhoods near campus. The postcard alerts residents to increased traffic and noise, particularly sound associated with events such as the Aug. 30 Johnny Holm concert on the mall outside Atwood Memorial Center. << Previous | Archive | Next >>
