In February, Atmosphere will be here.
The independent hip hop act, featuring Minnesota rap mogul Sean "Slug" Daley, will perform Feb. 26 in Atwood Ballroom. Opening acts, including Kill The Vultures, Big Quarters, Mally and BK One, begin at 6 p.m.
A February 2011 concert by Atmosphere, also in the 840-seat ballroom, sold out in less than six hours.
Atmosphere is led by Daley, the MC and Anthony "Ant" Davis, DJ and producer. The group is touring in support of its April release, "Family Sign" (Rhymesayers). View videos from the CD, the group's seventh release.
Daley, who grew up in south Minneapolis, is known for intensely personal lyrics that document the struggles of everyday life.
The group emerged from the 1990s Twin Cities underground music scene and has earned national acclaim on its own record label, Rhymesayers Entertainment.
Atmosphere has performed internationally, including a recent European tour that included stops in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Denmark, Czech Republic and Iceland.
