Senior Survey

The Senior Survey study polled 893 May graduates from seven Minnesota colleges and universities and 230 employers from organizations active in college recruiting.

A St. Cloud State survey of nearly 900 Minnesota college graduates reveals there are significant gaps between employer and employee expectations.

Among the findings:

• About 48 percent of employers expect new college graduates to work more than 45 hours per week. Only 33 percent of graduates surveyed share that expectation.
• More than one in five employers expect new college graduates to routinely work hours outside an 8-5, Monday-Friday work schedule. Less than 17 percent of graduates surveyed share that expectation.

The Senior Survey was an April follow-up questionnaire to last autumn's MN College Job Outlook. It polled 893 May graduates from seven Minnesota colleges and universities and 230 employers from organizations active in recruiting new college graduates in Minnesota.

The November 2010 MN College Job Outlook found, among other things, that nearly 58 percent of employers surveyed expected to maintain or decrease hiring. View a summary of the MN College Job Outlook (PDF).
