News Release Racism workshopTuesday, December 1, 2009
An "Understanding and Dismantling Racism" workshop will provide individuals, institutions and organizations with strategies for breaking down racism in Central Minnesota. The workshop is 12:30-4:30 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Alumni Room, Atwood Memorial Center. The fee is $69.00 per person, which includes refreshments, lunch and workshop materials. Register online. Presenters are Debra Leigh and James Addington. Leigh, a professor of dance, is the founder and artistic director of the university's Repertory Dance Theater and the Summer Dance Institute. She leads the Community Anti-Racism Education Initiative (CARE), a leading anti-racism organization on campus and in the community. Addington is a trainer and consultant with the Minnesota Collaborative Anti-Racism Initiative (MCARI) in St. Paul. He has 30 years’ experience in local community development, leadership training, organizational development and strategic planning. View a flyer and registration form (PDF) for upcoming workshops.
