Register for the Jan 2-9 Ten Thousand Islands Sea Kayaking Trip.

Kayak one of North America's most fascinating natural areas, the Ten Thousand Islands in southwest Florida.

Spend your days looking for manatees, dolphins and sea turtles. In the evenings enjoy epic sunsets while relaxing by a campfire on a sandy beach.

An information meeting is 7 p.m. Nov. 24 at Outdoor Endeavors, opposite the Fitness Center in Halenbeck Hall.

Cost for the Jan. 2-9 trip is $425 plus round-trip air fare. Registration is due Dec. 8.

The fee includes transportation, camping meals and equipment, permits, paddling gear and kayak training.

The trip is managed by Outdoor Endeavors, St. Cloud State's renowned provider of outdoor education and experiential learning.

The 35,000-acre Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge is one of the world's largest estuary ecosystems. It is home to 8,000 acres of mangrove forest, 16,000 acres of marine water and 11,000 acres of freshwater marshland. Visitors can see alligators, wading birds, shorebirds, bald eagles, osprey, loggerhead sea turtles, dolphins and manatees.
