News Release Closing/cancellation policiesThursday, October 15, 2009
St. Cloud State rarely closes. Cancellation or delay of classes and events happen occasionally. St. Cloud State makes every effort to announce closings/cancellations/delays before 6 a.m. for day classes and events, and before 3 p.m. for evening classes and events. Should there be a major campus emergency, university officials can share information through Star Alert e-mails and text messages. Register for the free Star Alert notification service. Closings/cancellations/delays are communicated through radio, television, campus-wide e-mail and voice-mail, the stcloudstate.edu Web site and social media sites. Closings/cancellations/delays are also available by calling 320-308-0121, 320-308-2244, 1-800-369-4260 or 1-877-654-SCSU (7278). For weather situations, university officials consult with the State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Transportation, National Weather Service, Minnesota Colleges and Universities (MnSCU), a St. Cloud State meteorologist and Metro Transit Commission. For other situations, Student Health Services, Public Safety and others are consulted, as appropriate. When classes or events are canceled or delayed, employees are expected to perform their regular duties unless specifically noted. Employees who cannot report to work must use leave time. During closings, only designated “essential employees" report to work. The university urges students and employees to use good judgment in making decisions about attending class or work. Employees may contact a supervisor to request alternate arrangements. << Previous | Archive | Next >>
