Experience Nepalese culture
Tuesday, October 13, 2009
The Nepalese Student Association (NSA) invites everyone to attend Festival Night at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in the Atwood Memorial Center Ballroom on campus. The program will celebrate the two main Nepalese festivals, Dashain and Tihar.
Dashain is traditionally a 15 day long festival to celebrate family and community. It is the biggest, longest and most auspicious festival in Nepal as well as in the Hindu religion. Tihar is also called the “festival of lights.”
Activities of the night will include a presentation about the meaning of the festivals, traditional dance and song performances, skits and authentic food.
Tickets are $5 for students, $8 for faculty and members of the community, free for children twelve and under. Tickets will be on sale in the Atwood Memorial Center and may be purchased at the door.
NSA is a student organization that works to promote and share Nepalese culture with the St. Cloud State community. All are welcome.
