MAVIS KALLESTAD is a Finale clinician/trainer, music engraver and piano accompanist in the Minneapolis area. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degreein Composite Music Education from Dickinson State University, Dickinson, ND. She has done music engraving for various composers and has edited solos and method books that appear on-screen in SmartMusic learning soft-ware. Mavis has demonstrated Finale software and has presented clinics for MakeMusic (the manufacturer of the software) at state music conventions in 11 different states.
Since 1996, Mavis has taught regional hands-on Finale workshops and school in-services to over 1200 musicians and music educators. Past workshops have included Lincoln Public Schools, Lincoln, NE; AABACA Music, Minnetonka, MN; Rockwood School District, St. Louis, MO; Fargo and West Fargo Public Schools, Fargo, ND; Wisconsin Center for Music Education, Waunakee, WI; International Music Camp, Dunseith, ND; Minnesota Summer Music Technology Sympo-siums, Minneapolis, MN and VanderCook College of Music, Chicago, IL.
Her book, Building Successful Finale 'Chops', was featured in the “Music Tech Tutorials” article in the October 2011 issue of School Band and Orchestra magazine. The bookis a practical guide which contains 19 step-by-step tutorials to help musicians and music educators learn how to use Finale to create their own musical compositions, arrangements and teaching materials.
