Assistant Professor of Music: Choral Activit ies
Matthew Ferrell is the Interim Director of Choral Activities at St. Cloud State University , where he guides all aspects of the choral program and conducts the SCSU Concert Choir and Chamber Choir. He teaches courses in graduate choral conducting, advanced undergraduate conducting, and class voice.

Mr. Ferrell was appointed Director of Choirs at New Lebanon High School in New York in August of 2000. In 2005 he became director of the Ocean Reef Chapel Choir; a professional choir composed of singers drawn from the advanced choirs at the University of Miami. From 2006-2008 he served as Associate Conductor of the Master Chorale of South Florida. In this position Mr. Ferrell assisted in the preparation of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Cleveland Orchestra. In addition, he conducted the Boca Raton Symphonia in several performances and helped prepare several other choral Masterworks.
Mr. Ferrell has been awarded two conducting fellows at prominent summer institutions. Through these organizations and other master classes he has studied under many well-known conductors including Dale Warland, Robert Porco, Duain Wolfe, John Alexander, Charles Bruffy, James Jordan, Jorge Mester, and Marin Alsop. He is an active member of the American Choral Directors' Association, the College Music Society, Music Educators National Conference, and Chorus America
