Dr. Nancy Parker graduated from Bethel University with a degree in Music Education and an emphasis in piano performance. She continued her studies in piano performance at California State University, Fullerton, the University of Southern California, and Portland State University, Portland, Oregon, where she completed a Master’s degree in Music Education. Dr. Parker holds a Ph.D. in music from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Parker is the instructor for “Teaching Music in the K-8 Classroom” at St. Cloud State University. She also teaches at Concordia University St. Paul and directs the Bethel University Women’s Chorale. Dr. Parker taught junior high and high school music and directed high school choral ensembles in Portland, Oregon for ten years bringing her concert ensembles to an award-winning level of sight-singing and performance competence.
She was a participating conductor with MidAmerica Productions involving her choral groups in Carnegie Hall Performances of Mozart’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah. In 2009, Bethel University’s Women’s Chorale was selected to perform at the 2009 Minnesota Music Educators Midwinter In-Service Clinic.
