| Description: | Fine Arts. Miki Kaneda is a Mellon C-MAP Fellow in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art. In addition to organizing workshops and research activities for C-MAP, she is co-editor of post, a participatory digital platform for global research. Trained as an ethnomusicologist, she received her PhD in Music, with a Designated Emphasis in New Media at the University of California, Berkeley in 2012. Her dissertation, titled "The Unexpected Collectives: Intermedia Art in Postwar Japan," is an ethnographic and historical study of intermedia musical and artistic practices in 1960s Japan. Her research interests include the the politics of sound; performance, documentation, and notation of experimental music; and ecologies of new media in postwar Japan. Before coming to MoMA, she taught at SUNY Stony Brook, UC Berkeley, and Montclair State University. | ||||||
