The Choirs of St. Cloud State University are committed to your personal growth as a creative, dynamic musician through refined performances of the finest choral repertoire. The wide range of choral ensembles offers you a choir that is appropriate to your individual development. Whether you are an aspiring music professional or simply a person who loves to sing, we have a choir for you! Current choir members represent nearly all academic disciplines and majors. In fact, most of the singers are majoring in areas other than music, and nearly all are undergraduates.
Our Mission
Impassioned by the mastery of choral art, the St. Cloud State Choirs are dedicated to promoting musical excellence through a steadfast and positive work ethic, an unwavering love for the discipline, and the will to inspire in the classroom and the community.
All of the SCSU choirs strive for the highest level of achievement, both in rehearsals and in performance, combining a musically intelligent approach with an understanding of free, healthy singing in a positive and professional atmosphere. Membership in one of our choirs will give you the opportunity to grow and develop as a musician, to make new friends and to be part of one of St. Cloud State’s most exciting and popular student activities. We hope that YOU will join us in keeping our tradition of choral excellence alive!
Voice Scholarships
The Choral Program has a number of scholarships established to assist students who are choral music education or vocal performance majors. Auditions for scholarships are generally held in mid February, with other times arranged as necessary. More information on voice scholarships

Private Voice Lessons
Private voice instruction and courses in diction and vocal pedagogy are provided at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Voice instructors Dr. Hugh Given and Dr. Catherine Verrilli maintain active careers as performers in addition to their teaching and involvement in opera theater productions.
All students, regardless of major, may take private voice lessons. Students will be strongly encouraged to participate in an SCSU choral ensemble concurrent with private lessons. In addition, all lesson and ensemble credits count toward the Humanities general education distribution area for non-music majors. An application for private lessons may be submitted to the music department at any time. Private lesson application (pdf 33.9k)
