The Goal of the St. Cloud Symphony YOUTH Orchestra: To serve the middle school and high school music students of Central Minnesota by giving them an experience they could not have anywhere else: the opportunity to perform with a group of musicians their own age but not from their own school.
Level of Playing: We welcome all violin, viola, cello and bass players in 7th through 12th grades, who have at least two years of playing experience, are proficient in reading music and who have had at least some shifting and/or extension experience. Payment: The cost for an entire year in the St. Cloud Symphony YOUTH Orchestra is $150. You can submit payment at the orientation meeting (September 24) or in two installments, ($75 on October 1 and $75 on January 14.) Please make checks payable to the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra. Sorry, we do not accept credit cards. Scholarship funds are not available at this time. Orientation: An orientation for students and parents will be held on September 24 at 4:30 at Pleasantview Elementary School, 1009 6 th Ave. N, Sauk Rapids. Students will be asked to audition on that day so please prepare a short solo of your choice, no longer than 5 minutes. Auditions will be held privately. Parents and students may ask questions at the meeting and submit payment.
Rehearsals: First Semester rehearsals begin on October 1 from 4:30-6:00 pm at Pleasantview Elementary School in Sauk Rapids, MN. Rehearsals run October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, November 5, 12. Second Semester rehearsals begin on January 14 and run January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, 25, March 3. (Note: NO rehearsal on February 18.)
Performances: The St. Cloud Symphony YOUTH Orchestra will hold its inaugural concert on November 17, 2007 at 2:00 pm--Dress Rehearsal in the morning. The second concert will be held on March 8, 2008 at 2:00 pm—Dress Rehearsal in the morning.
