Minnesota Teacher Licensure Exam

Teacher candidates in the State of Minnesota are required to pass a series of standardized tests in order to obtain initial licensure. These tests consist of three main parts: Basic Skills Tests, Pedagogy Tests, and Content Area Tests. Each of these tests are further broken down into their own individual subtests.

    • Start testing at least three months prior to graduation
    • Two subtests
  • Content

    • Not needed to graduate but needed for licensure
    • Start testing at least three months prior to graduation
    • Two subtests (except for Elementary Education which has three subtests)
