Admissions Requirements

The requirements for admission to the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering program include an undergraduate engineering degree from an accredited school in any field of Engineering. Applicants with undergraduate degrees in the areas of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or related fields may also be admitted. A grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for all international applicants. Consult the department for complete admission requirements.

Applicants should submit the completed applicatin with a $35 fee, official transcripts, Additional Information Form, Statement of Purpose, 3 letters of recommendation, TOEFL and GRE score reports from ETS (TOEFL minimum is 550 written or 213 computer and is required for International students only and a combined score of 1000 or higher on the verbal and quantitative sections is required in GRE.). Students having TOEFL less than 600 written or 250 on computer based test, must sit for an English Placement test upon their arrival.

Financial aid may be available to qualified students in the form of research assistantships, teaching assistantships, tuition waver, or fellowships.
