Hi!
Welcome to the Master of Engineering Management Program web site. The program was started in 2002 but has very rapidly become very popular with local employers. The program is very applied in nature. Current students come from a wide variety of disciplines including Electrical Engineering (the largest group of students), Computer Science, Bio-Medical Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Science background etc.
The class is very diverse with has international students from Nepal, Malaysia, India, Africa, Thailand etc. Most courses are applied and students have to complete projects in local companies and in most cases end up with summer internships in the same companies. We offer graduate assistantships and research assistantships and under the latter students work on funded projects under faculty supervision that are carried out at local companies. Students are able to apply for GA positions both within the department and outside the department. SCSU welcomes all students including international students and in the latter case allows all students to apply for cultural scholarship whereby they are able to pay in-state tuition fees.
The education we provide is excellent and most affordable. Admissions are thus competitive and often GRE scores are used to assess the student's application for a place. As of Spring 2005 no full time student in the program was not receiving either a GA or RA funding. Students are currently working on projects in Electrolux (St. Cloud), TriVirix, Park Industries, Talon Engineering, International Precision Machining etc.
SCSU is a fun place too! Every semester we have faculty and students potluck dinners. Some photographs about our activities are in the photo gallery. I took the MEM students for a free XC ski lesson this winter. We have a free lit XC trail in town.
