Admissions Requirements
The requirements for admission to the Master of Engineering Management program include an undergraduate engineering degree from an accredited school in any field of Engineering. Applicants with undergraduate degrees in the areas of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or related fields may also be admitted. A grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required. We require a GRE score of 1000. If the GPA is above 3 then we can consider a GRE score lower than 1000. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for all international applicants. We require a TOEFL score of 100 (and no sub scores less than 25). However we will consider a TOEFL score up to 79. But such a student will need to be tested for English proficiency on arrival and may be asked to do a course in English.
Applicants should submit the completed application with a $35 fee, official transcripts, Additional Information Form, Statement of Purpose, 3 letters of recommendation, TOEFL and GRE score reports from ETS. Currently SCSU requires all international applicants to provide NCAES (http://www.naces.org/) affiliated organization such as WES (http://www.wes.org/) and Educational Perspective (http://www.edperspective.org/) evaluated academic transcripts. Prospective students are welcome to e-mail the program director baliga@stcloudstate.edu for a no-obligation free preliminary evaluation before sending in your formal application. He will let you know informally if your application will be accepted.
Graduate Assistantships are provided based on GRE scores on arrival . All admitted students are automatically considered for GA positions. GA provides fee waiver and paid work of 10 hours per week in the department. Typically 5 newly admitted students are awarded GA positions on a semester basis. Additionally returning students are awarded one of 6 GA positions. The program also has several internships that are awarded each semester.
