Engineering Management Faculty Position

The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at St. Cloud State University is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor Level to start August 27, 2008. The department offers accredited Bachelors’ degrees mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering, and masters of engineering management. The Engineering Management Program is a highly popular program and around 40 students were admitted this year for the on-campus program and 18 in the executive cohort program. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the Engineering Management Program and also to fundamental level courses at the undergraduate level, advise undergraduate and graduate students, develop curriculum and sponsored research, participate in departmental and accreditation activities, and provide service to the university and the community. The applicant will be required to teach courses including but not limited to Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Operations and logistics Management, fundamental undergraduate courses in Engineering and develop new electives in her/his area of specialization. A Ph.D. in Engineering Management or a closely related field is required by 16 August 2008. The successful candidate should have an undergraduate degree in an Engineering discipline.  The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Update:

 

January 28th 2008: Search Committee is reviewing applications to sort out applications which are complete including PhD unofficial transcripts.

February 18th 2008: Search Committee will contact 8 shortlisted candidates tomorrow to invite them for a 20 minute phone interview scheduled for 25th February between 4.00 PM and 8.30 PM Central time.

March 3rd 2008: The search committe has invited 3 candidates for campus interviews scheduled over next 2 weeks.

March 25th 2008: The search committee deliberated on the campus interview outcomes and has requested the search committee chair to forward the recommendation to the Dean for necessary action. It is expected that it will take at least 2 weeks before the University can send the offer to the candidate. On acceptance by the candidate and an update will be posted to this web site.

April 15th 2008: Dr. Hiral Shah has accepted the position as Assistant Professor in the department.
